Organized by the College of Industrial Engineers of Madrid (COIIM) and the Association of Industrial Engineers of Madrid (AIIM) will be held on 23 and 24 October the CONGRESS of INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING . Two days of lectures and panel topics with relevant site visits.
It is noted the key issues today for engineers and discuss the changes that are occurring in the years to come.
I have had the satisfaction of seeing that the Organization has included a table on Social Responsibility and Commitment Industrial Engineer, and proud to have been selected as one of the speaker in the above table topic.
In this context I decided to frame the responsibility of the engineer within standards, as usual in the world of engineering. Of the various international and local standards dealing with aspects of social responsibility have chosen the ISO 26000 “Guidance on Social Responsibility”.
My presentation, under the titleThe Social Responsibility of the Engineer as part of the ISO 26000 ,covers three main subject groups (core subjects) they behave ISO 26000 "Guidance on Social Responsibility":
- Respect to the Environment
- Respect to the Company and
- Best practice in governance of the Organization.
Assuming that since the last decades of engineering and professionals are contributing mightily to environmental protection, The paper focuses on the social and corporate governance mentioned in the ISO 26000.
Notable examples are the responsibility of the engineer focused when in charge of the following functions:
- Specification and Technical Office,
- Head of Production Unit or
- Member of Senior Management.
